Sapropropel as a fertilizer

Sapropel is the only organic fertilizer used for rehabilitation and reclamation of the soil. It is a unique natural product that contains a great amount of useful microelements, vitamins and minerals. The amazing properties of sapropel have been appreciated by gardeners and farmers all over the world. The soil of houseplants is fertilized with it. Sapropel is also used in producing of composts and improving of field soil.

Improvement of soil structure

Due to the high content of phosphorus, lime, nitrogen, calcium and iron, sapropel is perfect for fertilizing of soils. It is rich in many essential for life and growth of plants enzymes. Among them there are proteases, reductases, peroxidases, catalase, and many others. Sapropel increases the humus content in soil. Fertilizing with sapropel of light, sandy, sandy-loam and acidic soil types is considered mostly effective.

The optimal amount for fertilizing the soil for grain crops is about 35 tons per hectare. Potatoes, vegetable and root crops require a higher concentration for planting, the amount of sapropel is enlarged to 65 tons per hectare of soil.

Sapropel can be used both in the original form (recently extracted) and in the form of a dry mix. If you apply the sapropel immediately after extraction before starting the process of fertilization you need a few days to erode the contained hydrogen sulfide.

Sapropel in the original form can be used for watering plants. In this case 2 tablespoonful of sapropel are added to 1 liter of water. Such watering is recommended no more than once a week.

Dried sapropel is effective for a variety of mixed soils. If a mix is prepared for houseplants the ideal ratio is considered to be 2 tablespoonful of organic fertilizer per 3 kg of soil.

For fertilizing of a garden 3 – 4 kg of sapropel per one square meter of the soil are used (it all depends on what plants will be planted).

Especially well the flowers grow on such a soil. Not only the period of blooming increases, but the color of blooming parts of plants becomes brighter.

Protective function

Sapropel impacts on root system, i.e. it forms developed strong roots. Plant growth is accelerated several times, and helpful enzymes increase the ability of plants “to resist “a variety of pathogenic bacteria. In the environment that is rich in this unique fertilizer the pathogens “feel uncomfortable” and quickly die.

Some perfect types of fertilizers for different plants based on sapropel were designed. Even the most depleted soils, enriched with a fertilizer based on sapropel with a high content of humus and organic substances, are revitalized in a short period of time and provide good harvests.

It is noteworthy that in sapropel there are natural silver ions that destroy viruses and bacteria and prevent their re-emerging in future.

The fertilizer is not concentrated, so the “oversaturating” of soils is simply impossible. Using this fertilizer it is recommended to loosen the soil after each watering.

Very important is the fact that sapropel as a fertilizer improves the mechanical structure of the soil. Alongside the activation of all soil processes is observed, moisture is absorbed well and is retained in the soil rather long. The aeration process is normalized, fungi die out.

On the soils fertilized by sapropel a rather significant increase in productivity and quality of crops is evident. Being once fertilized the soils remains enriched within 5 years
